Real Estate

High Profits and Strong Players

In this year’s Top 100 Companies Mauritius ranking, the real estate sector continues to shine, with Pam Golding Properties taking the lead, boasting a turnover of Rs 106.9 million and an impressive profit of Rs 13.8 million as of February 2023. This reflects the ongoing demand for luxury properties and the company’s strong positioning in the Mauritian market. Mauritius Sotheby’s International Realty follows in second place with Rs 81.3 million in revenue, but what stands out is its profit margin—Rs 26.6 million as of June 2023. This significant gap between revenue and profit highlights Sotheby’s ability to command premium prices, likely due to its affiliation with the prestigious Sotheby’s brand and its clientele in the high-end property market.

Barnes Mauritius ranks third on the list with a revenue of Rs 78.3 million and a profit of Rs 18.7 million by the end of 2023. This suggests that Barnes Mauritius remains competitive in the luxury real estate segment, which is an ongoing trend in Mauritius. Interestingly, Fine Country (Rs 58.6 million revenue, Rs 3.9 million profit) and Park Lane (Rs 52.2 million revenue, Rs 15.2 million profit) reflect a diverse strategy. Fine Country’s relatively modest profit indicates a focus on a broader market range, while Park Lane’s higher profit signals its strength in securing more profitable transactions, despite having a smaller revenue base.

Nestenn and Colbert Properties, while ranking lower in terms of revenue, maintain steady profit levels, demonstrating resilience in an increasingly competitive market. Nestenn, with Rs 47.5 million in revenue and Rs 2.3 million profit and Colbert Properties, with Rs 37.9 million in revenue and Rs 5.5 million in profit, continue to focus on offering a wide range of property solutions.

Overall, this year’s rankings reveal a healthy competition among major real estate players in Mauritius, with luxury properties leading the way. Profits continue to be robust, especially for companies targeting high-net-worth individuals, while smaller players must navigate market pressures and adjust their strategies accordingly.
